The AJD checklist is primarily used to ensure that the lesson structure is adequate for effective aviation instruction. By following this checklist, instructors can systematically verify that all necessary components of a lesson plan are in place, which enhances the clarity and flow of the instruction. This includes confirming that objectives are met, content is relevant, and activities align with the desired learning outcomes. An organized and thorough lesson structure is vital in aviation training, where precise understanding and skill development are crucial for safety and effectiveness.

While student engagement, equipment functionality, and instructor qualifications are also important aspects of aviation instruction, the purpose of the AJD checklist specifically centers around the adequacy of the lesson structure. This focus helps ensure that the instructional material is presented in a coherent manner, thus facilitating better learning experiences for students.
